Ayrton Domino Profile fixtures chosen by Jo Campana for Ligabue’s sell‐out tour
It was a quick sell‐out for Ligabue's seven Italian dates at the spectacular Arena di Verona, followed by four more European concerts in Barcelona, Brussels, Paris and London.
The lighting design for the event was handled by legendary LD, Jo Campana, who chose to use 61 Ayrton Domino Profiles. "I have used Ayrton products many times in the past ‐ most recently 120 Magic Panel FX in Ligabue's last stadium tour in 2019,” says Campana. “Once again I chose the Ayrton brand for a simple reason: I have always considered it a synonym for quality and reliability. When I get the chance, it’s natural for me to consider them on my shopping list.” 31 Domino Profiles were used as traditional spots, mounted on three trusses at different depths on the roof to guarantee the effects package. "These stood out in terms of presence and brightness," says Campana. Another 30 Domino Profiles were positioned way up on the topmost level of the Arena steps behind the stage area to create a frame and a natural backdrop to the black‐box of the performance area. "
Given the uniqueness and historical importance of the Arena di Verona, I wanted to emphasise and highlight its architectural aspect in all its breadth and majesty,” says Campana. “I had already done this several times in the past with other fixtures and, on this occasion too, I had no doubts about repeating the 'terrace‐effect’, which thanks to the Domino was brilliantly successful. Nevertheless, at other times during the show, this second group of 30 Dominos worked in support of, and in parallel with, those operating on stage, thereby improving the perspective and expanding the overall visual impact." Campana also opted for the Domino Profile because of its IP65 protection factor ‐ as these 7 concerts took place over ten days and in Verona, an area historically subject to frequent seasonal rainfall, the reliance on water‐ resistant fixtures was a priority.
"I believe that in the future many companies will concentrate their production efforts in this market segment and I believe that, especially in light of what we have seen in recent years at a meteorological level, water‐ resistance is absolutely a feature that should not be underestimated,” expresses the Lighting and Concept Designer. “Ayrton is definitely the market reference in this area today."
The Ayrton units were presented by Ayrton's exclusive distributor in Italy, Molpass, and supplied by the Italian service company Agorà.
