Production Pool invests in Robe

Production Pool is a solid, well- respected technical production and design company based in Belgrade, Serbia, working across the country, the Balkans region and internationally. Founded in 2014 by Milos Sorgic, who is also a prolific lighting designer, the company is known for high standards and great production values.

These were boosted last year with a major investment in Robe products – 20x PAINTES, 4x ProMotions – plus another 10x T1 PCs recently delivered by Robe’s Serbian distributor LSD (Light and Sound Design d.o.o.), which Milos now has at his creative fingertips!

He still designs all the major events for clients needing a creative input from Production Pool, as well as technical planning, services, and equipment.

Serbia is still an emerging market for the world of entertainment production. While there is plenty of potential, it is challenging, highly competitive and being successful requires flair, imagination, and the ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’. For Production Pool, which focuses on the high-end corporate and business market, their USP is ‘done really properly’.

Their work encompasses all types of public, private and official shows, large and small, indoors, and outdoors, and the client list includes global leading brands. Milos had been working with Robe technology for a while, especially on some of the design work around Europe where he frequently used MegaPointes and Tarrantulas – and was really keen to get some fixtures into Production Pool’s inventory. Milos had the foresight and business savvy to see that getting a premium brand like Robe onboard will enable better and more imaginative shows to be created … and will enhance Production Pool’s rep as a quality supplier.

At the end of 2023, he was asked to design the lightshow for a major LSD Open Day event to celebrate the company – headed by Milan Scepanovic – getting the Robe exclusive distribution for Serbia with Kosovo and other Balkan countries, including Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and North Macedonia. This was where he was fully able to appreciate the features and versatility of some of the newest Robe luminaires. Impressed, this experience spurred Milos onward to purchase the PAINTES and ProMotions.

“PAINTE – I loved it as soon as I saw what it could achieve,” he enthused, “For a mid-sized rental company, it is the perfect fixture – it is small, neat, compact and does everything! I had to have these!” He elaborated that it is very punchy, the optics are great, a nice even beam with no hot spots and “awesome” sharpness. “Generally, it’s a very well-designed and engineered product,” he commented. PAINTES are used for front light and as profiles and spots. “It is an extremely versatile light,” confirmed Milos.

The ProMotion – an innovative digital source moving light – is another fixture that immediately made sense to him, given Production Pool’s gamut of top- level business events. Perfect for projecting logos, video content and for visual texturing, “it’s a really unique unit, perfect for specific applications.”

The T1 PCs have just joined the rental inventory, and Milos wanted these for their “fantastic” quality of light and high CRI, specifically for key and front lighting of any speakers, presenters, and performers, as well as for set washing.

Milos highlights the importance of the relationship and support from the local supplier – i.e. LSD – as essential to investing in a brand. “I have known LSD for quite some time, and their service and support are outstanding,” he noted. He thinks Robe as a brand is “amazing” and while it is higher priced, in a very tight market like Serbia, he believes that having the tech onboard and the product you get for the money can also increase business potential. “It is well worth it,” he concludes.

Production Pool supplies full 360 production packages – lighting, audio, video, including large format projections and mapped shows, staging and rigging, set, scenery, 3D modelling and other technical design and planning services. The company is busy year- round and currently has about 40 full- time employees, plus freelancers.

Before that, Milos worked for 9 years with another rental company, starting as the van driver and rising through the ranks to become a production director, before setting up his own enterprise.
