Following the recent launch of the new GLP impression S500, the powerful successor to the proven impression S350 was put to use at the Tollwood Winter Festival in Munich. PRG Germany deployed 34 of the 500-watt LED profile fixtures for the spectacular show Duel Reality by Canadian company the 7 Fingers.
In the Grand Chapiteau, a tent designed specifically for theatrical performances, PRG used 34 GLP impression S500 Profile HC for the first time, along with 14 GLP impression X5 and 68 FUSION X- PAR 12Z fixtures. “We actually added the fixtures to our inventory for TV productions,” adds Matthias Allhoff, director of asset strategy at PRG. “But since the S500 delivers significantly more output than the S350, the new series is also much better suited for show lighting. That makes them a great fit not only for theatrical projects like this one at Tollwood but also for corporate events.”
Compared to its predecessor, the S350, the impression S500 represents a comprehensive upgrade. While the S350 was known for its compact design and high colour rendering, the S500 offers up to 30% higher light output and improved CMY colour mixing – all within the same form factor – providing even greater creative potential. The S500 also features an optimised shutter module. Its new LED engine ensures more energy
-efficient operation and extends the lifetime of the light source. This makes the S500 Profile HC ideally suited for demanding theatre and stage productions where flexibility and performance are paramount.
The impression S500 Profile is available in two versions: the HC version (High Colour Rendering) used here, which features a white LED engine with 26,000 lumens at 6,000 K and delivers a balanced light spectrum for excellent colour rendering with a CRI and TLCI above 90; and the HO version (High Output), whose white LED engine produces 40,000 lumens at 7,000 K. “The new impression S500 Profile met expectations in every respect,” says Stefan Templer. “They offer excellent output, are highly versatile, and fit perfectly into our technical concept for this production.” Additionally, 68 of the powerful zoomable LED Pars, FUSION X- PAR 12Z, were used in the theatre tent at the Winter Tollwood. For the lighting of other tents and outdoor areas, PRG also used a total of 82 FUSION X-PAR 12Z and 92 of the ultra-compact FUSION X-PAR 8Z units.
