LD Systems CURV 500 in the Arts & Design Faculty in Romania

The Faculty of Art and Design at the West University in Timisoara, Romania houses numerous departments and also a modern presentation and event space. In order to be able to use the space – which is an attic – and its challenging room acoustics flexibly, the integrator on the project, Media Crusher Srl, relied on the LD Systems CURV 500 Portable Array System.

The team installed a total of 24 S2 array satellites on the wooden beams of the attic, divided into eight arrays. In order to be able to cover the space evenly during special public events – for example, a planned fashion show with a 15-metre catwalk – two delay lines were set up, each consisting of two S2 Array satellites, and the entire system was simulated in EASE beforehand. Careful placement of the delay lines allows the audience to be situated throughout the hall without sacrificing sound quality. The sound pressure in the low frequency range is provided by four LD Systems I SUB 10” installation subwoofers, which were firmly mounted on the side of the venue’s front wall via the supplied wall bracket. The complete system is driven by two I AMP 4-channel installation power amplifiers.

For Lucian Băbuț of Media Crusher Srl, the LD Systems CURV 500 is the first choice when it comes to providing uniform sound reinforcement for presentation areas, restaurants or churches – even if the rooms feature almost no dampening and have many reflective surfaces: “In our xperience, the CURV 500 delivers great sound, even under difficult conditions, for both speech and music,” he says. In addition, the CURV 500 scores points not only for its performance and flexibility, but also for its compact design.

Băbuț says: “Everyone knows the large line arrays at concerts. On this basis, you can quickly convince customers that the advantages of this technology also apply on a smaller scale. The combination of sound pressure and visual.
