Barco Pulse

The electronics backbone that is integrated across all latest Barco projector platforms introduced exciting new features

Barco, a projection manufacturer and innovator across the entire visualization chain, introduced the new Pulse mobile app and an update of the Insights Management Suite platform. Thanks to a strengthened projection software platform and a growing hardware offering, Barco enters 2023 with a unique portfolio which enables projector management and control with the highest degree of customization, to easily address any specific project or demand.

Launch of the Barco Pulse Mobile App

The growing Pulse ecosystem consists of various software tools to enable easier projector control. The latest addition is the Pulse Mobile App, now available in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The app serves as a remote controller and allows for quick tweaking of basic projection parameters, such as lens adjustments, projector orientation, shutter power, test patterns and black level settings.

Craig Lawrence, Video and Projects Director at SFL Group, was part of the Pulse Beta testing community and confirms he was positive about the efficiency of the Mobile App. “The solution gives us remote access to the features of the Pulse interface which saves us a lot of precious time and is beneficial in those complex set‐ups where the projector is mounted in hard‐to‐reach places. It’s a great asset, and we’re excited to see how the Pulse ecosystem further evolves!”

Insights Management Suite extends availability

Another projection software platform from the visualization company is the Barco Insights Management Suite. The cloud‐based Internet of Things solution for enhanced fleet management is designed to simplify and facilitate remote monitoring and serviceability of projectors. The first version of the Insights Management Suite was available for the UDM and UDX flagship line projectors. It later extended the availability with the launch of the XDM and XDX RGB laser projectors. According to the company’s most recent numbers, this results in nearly 2,000 projectors registered to the Insights platform.

In the coming months, the Management Suite will also be supported for the G62 and G100 single‐chip laser projectors.

Kristof Geerkens, Software Product Manager at Barco, explains: “We really wanted to extend the benefits of our software platforms across our projection portfolio. In doing so, this offers consistency to users who own a mix of different Barco projectors and can now manage their entire fleet from just one platform.”

New Projector PowerScheduler

In addition, Barco will introduce a new feature to the Insights Management Suite platform. The Projector Power Scheduler makes it possible for users to remotely schedule the power on or off for an individual projectoror a group of projectors. This functionality is aimed at fixed installations or semi‐ permanent projection mappings where the technical team is not constantly on site to manage the projector’s power settings. “To bring a software solution that brings value and answers the needs of those in field, we continuously invest time and effort to follow‐up feature requests and product feedback from our partners,” says Geerkens. “Our respondents in the market indicated a need for tools which address labor shortages and increase efficiency. Today this results in the introduction of our new projector power scheduler.”

The scheduler functionality is currently available for the UDX and UDM projectors with an Insights

Management Suite Control subscription or trial active.
