Singapore and Malaysia were the first two Asian stopovers for the worldwide launch of Robe’s new long-throw 1700W BMFL Spot luminaire.
Both the Singapore and Malaysia events were organised by Robe Asia Pacific and Lighting & Sound Distribution (LSD), the Robe distributor for Singapore and Malaysia. The Singapore event was staged in the Resorts World Theatre, this venue being chosen as it was important to demonstrate in a large space so guests could appreciate the sheer power and throw capabilities of the BMFL Spot. The Malaysia event was held at the Mitraland and Sky Lounge at Cascades Kota Damansara. Both events attracted people from multiple industry sectors, including owners from the major rental houses.
Louis Teo, Managing Director of Robe Asia Pacific kicked off the event with a welcome speech, followed John Saunders of Anolis before handing the stage over to Robe’s CEO and Co-founder Josef Valchar who began by introducing some of their newest fixtures (each on display) such as the Robin 1000 LEDBeam, Robin ParFect 100, CycFX 8, Cyclone, MiniME, Faze 800 FT Pro, and Haze 500 FT Pro. Other Robe lights such as the MMX Spot and Pointe were already working on full beam on the truss and floor of the stage.
Saving the best for last, it was time to unveil the game-changing features of the BMFL Spot to the audience. Using a custom designed 1700W lightsource to unleash a staggering 250,000 lux at 5 meters, its key points are also a CRI of 90/92 and a refined optical system to offer a 5–55 degree zoom and a crisp, high quality truly homogenised fat beam – and no hotspot!
New colour mixing technology to create all colours in the spectrum along with two colour wheels means the BMFL currently has the best colour mixing system ever used in a moving head in the market.
For the effect section, there are two Rotating Gobo Wheels, two Rotating Prisms and Dual Graphic Wheels, plus three grades of Frost and an exceptionally smooth, distortion-free dimmer.
Compact and weighing just 36 Kgs, BMFL Spot is designed for long throw applications, and Robe’s newly patented Electronic Motion Stabiliser technology (EMS) enables the fixture to absorb vibrations.
The Spot is first to be launched in the new BMFL Family, which will include two more a WashBeam and a Profile (Blade) model. The complete family will cover every need a LD needs for a show. With Robe’s claim that the BMFL is “the best” they have ever made we have to agree that they are absolutely right!
